Can sports massage help with back pain.
Massage can help with back pain and chronic muscular pain in other areas too.
There is no guarantee and it would help and this can depend on factors such as - the individual, what exactly is causing the pain, how long has this been going on? If for example you have torn a muscle then it's best to sit 72 hours before considering massage.
In general if it's a muscular issue that is not part of a diagnosed condition then massage may help.
If it is due to a diagnosed condition then that condition may be an absolute contra-indication to manage in which case definitely no massage allowed.
Do I need to be an athlete in order to get sports massage?
Not at all. It can be beneficial for most people - athletic or not.
Sports massage does not just have to be for those suffering with muscular pain. It can be used as part of an ongoing training regime or just for the benefits and relaxation.
Can anyone have a sports massage?
Unfortunately not.
Whilst is is suitable for people from all walks of life - not just athletes or people that train regularly, there are contraindications.
This usually refers to medical conditions that not only may sports massage not help - it could actually make it worse.
If unsure don't just book your massage - contact me to discuss whether or not it would be suitable for you.
Contraindications can be:

Do you offer home visits
Yes I do offer home visits. I have a portable massage table that I bring with me.
You can contact me to arrange a home visit but you can't just book one online as I need to factor in travel time, setting up, clearing down etc. So we need to discuss and find a mutually convenient time for home visits.
How often should I book a massage?
Whilst in some cases I may suggest a few more sessions - that is optional. It is entirely up to you how often you want to book.
Some people feel good after one session and stop.
Clients are allowed free will. Some will only re-book when they have an injury/discomfort, whilst others will come for regular massage before/after physical events.
Quite a few people make it a regular part of their routine - whether that is for training, to hold off aches and pains ...or just because they like the relaxed feeling afterwards.
Do I have to be naked?
You do not have to be naked.
For example if you want a shorter duration massage, just for the legs, then there is no need to take your top off.
When it comes to the body areas being massaged there is more benefit in not having clothing on as not only does the oil/creme/lotion help me as the therapist, it adds to the benefit for you as a client.
Citing can add friction and ruck up.
Massage can also support:
• Personal training progress
• Injury prevention
• Mobility improvement
• Return-to-training phases
• Yoga
